Community Guidelines

Last updated: July 20, 2026

Missing Book exists so people can share, discuss, and act on missing-persons cases. These guidelines keep the community useful and safe. If you see a post that breaks them, use the "Report" menu on any post.

Be accurate

  • Only post information you believe to be true. If it's a rumor, say so.
  • Cite the source when possible (article, official alert, family statement).
  • Correct or delete posts you later learn are wrong.

Be respectful

  • No harassment, hate speech, threats, or targeted attacks.
  • No graphic imagery, sexual content, or content that mocks victims.
  • Treat families and loved ones with care — this platform is often used by them directly.

Protect privacy

  • Do not post another person's private information (home address, phone number, workplace) without consent.
  • Do not accuse specific individuals of crimes without clear public evidence.
  • Do not post information about minors beyond what is already in an official alert.

No spam or scams

  • No fundraising links or donation requests unless the case is verifiably yours or a family member's.
  • No bots, follow-farming, or repeat posts.

Emergencies

Missing Book is not an emergency service. If you have a real-time tip about someone in danger, call your local emergency number or the tip line on the official alert.

Enforcement

We may remove posts, hide comments, restrict features, or suspend accounts that repeatedly violate these guidelines. Serious violations (threats, exploitation of minors, coordinated harm) result in immediate removal.
